Philippine Trip

 Dear Reader,
As Americans it is easy to get comfortable with the way we live, the pleasures we enjoy, and opportunities we are given, but when you have the chance to go to another country it is a whole different world! Your attitude changes, not only towards your personal life but towards others. I know last year as I was able to go with Pastor Wells to the Philippines, I returned with a entirely different perspective and a burden for the people there in that country. This year the Lord provided the funds for yet another trip to the Philippines through the gracious giving of supporters in our church. As the time drew close Preacher was able to give me the information to certain contacts in the Philippines to set up meetings with while there. Before our departure date I was able to have a full itinerary in hand of scheduled meetings with pastors, missionaries, and government officials that had agreed to meet with me once I arrived. This meant traveling to Manila, Cebu, Cagayan de Oro, and Iloilo within the week we were there.

We all met at the church early Thursday morning, on January 19th, and set out to the airport. My itinerary read: Friday land in Manila, Saturday and Sunday be in Cagayan de Oro, Monday back in Manila, Tuesday and Wednesday in Cebu, Thursday in Iloilo, and Friday back to Manila to meet the group on our way back home. Your right, a full schedule, but how I was looking forward to all that God was going to allow me do while in the short time I was there! We boarded our first of three planes of which would take us to Detroit, Japan and finally Manila. As the group that came with Preacher went on to Cebu, I traveled on to Cagayan de Oro and met with Pastor Dimver Andalas and had three opportunities to preach on Sunday! Monday took me back to Manila to meet with Pastor Nable and missionary Josh Adams. Monday night I flew into Cebu and met the group there for the soulwinning conference in Pastor Jesalva’s Church. Preacher Wells gave me some opportunities to teach in the sessions and preach in the academy along with the great opportunity to accompany the group in public school soulwinning. This is always a neat experience as we walk in to classrooms filled with young people eager to hear about the Gospel. We were able to win many there in Cebu and hear a lot of fiery preaching! I also had the privilege of spending some quality time with Kent Jesalva who also has a great burden for the children in his city. Thursday morning I flew out to Iloilo to meet with Pastor Rick Martin, a fellow missionary, and a government official in the Child Protective Services there in the Philippines. After a full day of meetings and getting a lot of beneficial information I was able to end the day with a basketball game with the college guys there in the church. Friday I flew back to Manila and was able to meet the group for some souvenirs. We flew out Saturday Morning, spent close to twenty hours in the air, and landed late, January 28th, Saturday afternoon our time! What an amazing trip it was not only to be able to participate in the conference with the team and Pastor Wells but to be able to meet with so many people. I was able to gather many facts and information, to see the hearts of the pastors as all expressed their eagerness to have me come and be a part of their ministry, and to fuel the fire in me to get to the Philippines as soon as I can!
I praise the Lord again for such a fantastic opportunity, for allowing people in my life that care for me and my ministry to finance the trip, and giving me the honor to be in His service. I look forward to all that He has in store as we continue to raise the support within this year to go back and reach the orphaned, neglected, and street children in the Philippines. Please pray with us!
